What is it about Provo? After featuring Little Moon in my last edition, here's another amazing artist emerging from this tiny Utah town. Anna Beck’s 2023 single "Cut" has already claimed the spot as my first favorite song of 2025, despite her relatively small catalog of just four released tracks. Like fellow Provo artist Little Moon, she has navigated leaving the Mormon Church and writes songs embracing womanhood and queerness with vulnerability and authenticity. Her voice wraps around each word with such warmth and feeling. It's exactly the kind of music that makes me want to share it with everyone I know.

Pocket Sun's stunning album artwork pulled me right in, and the Bristol band's music more than lives up to that visual promise. When they say their music is “a kaleidoscopic journey,” they really mean it. This is an album meant to be experienced from start to finish and trust me, that's exactly how you should listen to it.
