💫 New Music July 12
Larry David, something to dance to, and the most ethereal album released today.
New music roundup for this week! This is the first time I’ve focused on new releases only and I definitely want to do these more often.
From now on, I’ll always try to include a “similar vibes” blurb in all my posts to give you a better idea of what the music sounds like (and maybe you'll even discover another artist you didn’t know before, ha).
Ok Cowgirl - Larry David
🗓️ July 10, 2024
🎶 Rock/Alternative
Similar Vibes: Blondshell, Snail Mail, Girl Scout
Am I annoyed by the overuse of the word “obsessed”? Yes. Am I obsessed with this song? Also yes.
Everything is fucked / To the left to the right / Everything is in my way / And New York doesn’t care / That it’s been a long week / That you’re having a bad day
I initially wanted to share just the link to the audio, but then I realized they had already released a music video, and you just have to watch it.
Their album “Couldn't Save Us From My Gut” is out on August 16, 2024.
Faye Meana - Can’t Be Replaced
🗓️ July 12, 2024
🎶 Alt-Pop
Similar Vibes: Griff, Remi Wolf, girl in red
Hot tip: Listen to her song “On and On” after this. I promise it will make you want to dance. 🪩
Johanna Warren - The Rockfield Sessions, Vol 1&2 [Album]
🗓️ July 12, 2024
🎶 Folk
Similar Vibes: Joni Mitchell, Laura Marling
After a decade on the road solo or with artists like Iron & Wine or Miski, Warren writes on her Instagram: “I recorded this live acoustic album to mark the end of Act I, in which I was a touring musician.” I’m happy she will continue to write and record music. And, thankfully, we will always have footage of how magical she sounds live, even when she’s not touring anymore.
Wow! A song titled Larry David and a video featuring his likeness! Who would have thought…?!
Would you say you're unable to 'curb your enthusiasm' for the new Ok Cowgirl song? (I'll see myself out.)
