Hi friends, It’s been a minute … I know. Here’s a handful of new releases that have stuck with me over the past few weeks 🫶
Mimi Gilbert - undrowning [EP]
Mimi Gilbert makes indie-folk that feels intimate, raw, and full of atmosphere. The Ojai-native splits their time between LA and Naarm and just released their new EP, undrowning, two weeks ago. They toured with Angie McMahon and Julia Jacklin and have a gig in Ojai planned on July 25 if you happen to live in SoCal!

Hannah Jadagu - My Love [Single]
Hannah Jadagu is back with a new single, My Love. It’s her first release since 2023’s stunning debut album Aperture. The Texas-born, NYC-based artist has a way of making songs that feel close and comforting without trying too hard. This one leans into a brighter, more electronic sound. My Love is blending elements of pop, R&B, and a light synthy touch that shows how her sound is evolving without losing what makes it hers.

Wet World - sycophant [Single]
Wet World is the project of Steph Barker (Baby Bulldog) and Luke Atlas (formerly of Coast Modern). If you’ve been craving something that sounds like it came from a sweaty DIY basement show in 2007 but updated for your modern-day rage, sycophant is for you. Their EP gush is out June 27. (Full disclaimer: I work with the band over at +1 Records, but I’d be annoying about how good they are either way. Go see them live, too, if you ever get the chance!!)

Stella Cain - Roddy [EP]
This is still a very niche release. Stella Cain’s debut EP Roddy, released on April 4 and named after her grandmother, is a tribute to the people who shaped her. Raised in Fremantle, Australia, and trained by Roddy herself, she creates songs that blend piano, choir, and deeply emotional indie pop. The four tracks (+ a hauntingly beautiful cover of “Islands in the Stream”) are full of family, grief, and healing, and feel very personal and homemade in the best way.
